GIS intern positions at TxDOT create an opportunity to learn about the business of a DOT. Daily tasks will include reviewing, analyzing, and editing data. Candidates will support two key data development projects at TxDOT focused on imagery extraction or roadway assets such as pavement edge, bridge structure, and planning level right-of-way boundaries. Candidates with more advanced GIS experience may have opportunities to do asset extraction and other automated analysis tasks. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instruction and are subject to frequent review by the technical lead and supervisor. Essential Duties:Analyzes data and applies statistical techniques.Assists in developing and maintaining databases.Assists in the collection of field data and compiles data into statewide database.Assists with special projects.Composes routine reports.Enters and retrieves data on a personal computer.Prepares, assembles, reviews, and verifies various documents and/or forms.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
