North Atlantic Industries Intern Machinist in Boehmia, New York

The Intern-Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating all CNC/manual machinery as well as shop up-keep, equipment maintenance and improvements to support production and engineering.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC machinery using setup sheets and communicating with programmer Help manage inventory in coordination with the Stockroom and Purchasing teams.
Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment and common troubleshooting when a malfunction occurs Track and maintain raw material, fixture, and tooling log Design and implementation of fixturing equipment for both engineering and production purposes Qualifications and Education Requirements:

High School Graduate (Tech school machining program enrollment or degree preferred) Experience with manual vertical mill minimum (CNC vertical mill experience preferred) Knowledge and understanding of G & M code (Fanuc based language preferred) Knowledge of 6S practice and machine shop safety Additional Knowledge:

Entry/Intermediate level CAM programing (GibbsCam or Fusion 360 preferred) Titans of CNC academy training Ability to design and create work holding fixtures/assemblies for use in a manufacturing environment Design for Manufacturability and End-use Assembly Experience/knowledge in complex setups for maximizing rigidity Language Skills:

Must have good oral and written communication skills Other Skills and Abilities:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Self-motivated, and possess a high degree of curiosity and desire to learn new things Ability to take initiative and multi-task within a fast-paced environment
