Job Description

The Business Management Office of IPO at NREL is looking for a recent science or business graduate to support our partnership team. The Agreement Support Intern will help the Technology Transfer prepare and manage to publication Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) final reports (CFRs). These reports summarize the work completed by NREL with our partners and provide a record of the research outcomes funded through the CRADA agreement mechanism. In this role the Agreement Support Intern work closely with researchers helping to prepare templates for CFRs from existing statements of work, explaining to researchers how to use the processes and tools to develop draft CRADA CFRs and following up to ensure CFRs are being completed on a timely basis. This position is full-time.

We are looking for candidates that are passionate about renewable energy, energy systems and the environment. In this role you will support a diverse portfolio of activities involving technical review of statements of work, management of a queue of CFRs that need to be advanced through the process, and support of researchers as they complete CFRs. You will also have opportunities to gain a broad understanding of the types of research NREL performs with its partners to transform energy. Candidates should be interested in working in an interdisciplinary field, together with business development professionals, agreement specialists, and researchers, which will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The Agreement Support Intern will work as part of NREL’s Innovation Partnership and Outreach directorate, supporting the Lab’s partnership growth and development strategy by providing support to researchers by compiling initial CRADA final reports (CFRs).

Responsibilities include:

Agreement Support

  • Use Salesforce to gather CRADA information and documents and develop strong capabilities in Salesforce reporting and analytics

  • Become familiar with the CRADA agreement type and the requirements for CRADA Final Reports (CFR)

  • Review CRADA joint statements of work to identify work tasks across the original agreement and subsequent modifications

  • Use the information in the joint statements of work to populate the template for the CFR including addressing specific requirements such as use of intellectual property

  • Review the populated template with researchers answering questions about the CFR requirements with help from the CFR or Technology Partnership Agreement specialists as needed.

  • Manage CFRs in process and follow-up as needed to help researchers complete the CFRs in a timely manner

Basic Qualifications

Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Candidates who have earned a degree may work for a period not to exceed 12 months. Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

  • Proven ability to quickly learn new tools and systems including the ability to independently learn new technologies.

  • Ability to understand detailed scientific technical writing, organize the concepts presented and prepare summaries.

  • Excellent communication skills including writing, presentations and effectively sharing analysis.

  • Detail oriented with superior proof-reading skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects under limited supervision, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and be a strong team player with willingness to take initiative.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

  • Experience using Excel for data analysis.

  • Experience with Power BI.

  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM or Marketing suites.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

Job Profile: / Annual Salary Range: $49,100 - $78,600

NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.

NREL employees may be eligible for, but are not guaranteed, performance-, merit-, and achievement- based awards that include a monetary component. Some positions may be eligible for relocation expense reimbursement. Internships projected to be less than 20 hours per week are not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits.
