Peckham, Inc. Vocational Rehabilitation Intern in Lansing, Michigan

Peckham Inc. - Career Planning and Consultation (CPC) Intern

SUMMARY

The Career Planning and Consultation (CPC) Intern position provides clerical support, and client supervision for all CPC programs, with in emphasis in our youth programs within the CPC. Primary responsibilities will be monitoring and documenting client progress, collaborating with client and production supervisors, attending meetings with clients and referring agencies, setting up informational interviews for students, and coordinating billing for services provided.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following

  • Monitor client progress by speaking with client and production supervisors

  • Assist in coordinating job shadows for the LINKS program students and provide transportation when necessary

  • Write case notes regarding client progress

  • Implement crisis intervention procedures for School to Work (STW) students

  • Administer, score and interpret results of work samples, psychometric tests, and interest inventories to participants

  • Assist clients with resume development and interview preparation for all youth services programs. Obtain baseline information regarding work speeds, behaviors, and physical abilities/tolerances for the STW Students

  • Communicate effectively with employers, consumers, Peckham staff, and referring counselors

  • Provide direct feedback and training to team members/clients regarding work readiness, work behaviors, and work skills

  • Coordinate with supervisors to ensure job placements for students

  • Assist in passing out and collecting 30 day STW evaluations

  • Enter new client information into CIMS

  • Provide support to the Youth Services Team Leader for New Student Orientations

  • Maintain communication regarding student progress with the Youth Services Team Leader

  • Must have access to frequent reliable transportation to work sites within Ingham County area.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain safe and clean work environment

  • Promote Peckham’s vision values and services to all customers and stakeholders

  • Assist in maintaining organizational wide quality standards

  • Other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in the human services related field

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Access to reliable transportation to community work sites and schools.

PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS

  • Experience working with students, diverse populations, and/or individuals with disabilities helpful.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
