Supply Chain Intern

We have an excellent opportunity for an Intern within our Procurement department at our Medley, Florida facility. This wage position will be assigned to the Warehouse Manager and will report directly to the Senior Procurement Manager located at the Pennsuco complex. The internship will consist of the following:

Job Responsibilities/Tasks

  • Gather data from SAP to analyze material movement patterns.

  • Create separate lists of slow moving, dead and excess, but active inventory.

  • Associate this to POS using excel to create supplier buy back lists.

  • Perform mini-ROI analysis of purchased write off and resale values to determine best case route for disposal of parts.

  • Assess Scrap value if no other option exists of the same.

  • Tag parts to equipment by having conversations with technical team members in aggregates and cement to prevent excess buildup.

  • Shop for e-commerce options used by industry leaders in monetizing overstock situations.

  • Observe and document daily tasks of warehouse team to identify optimization opportunities including automation, or elimination of non-value added (lean) roles or time.

  • Develop metrics that make sense to track and audit both system and process.

    Learning Outcomes

  • Ability to propose business case for improved categorization and tracking of inventory by speed, usage, and value of spare parts.

  • Suggest better usage of resources through time study of daily activities of warehouse personnel.

  • WMS system identification to get us to more modern-day methods.

    Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university, pursuing a degree in engineering, mathematics, or other forms of pattern recognition to develop tools for business use.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software with strong Excell skills.

  • Self-starter, high energy with excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent researcher with strong written communication skills.

  • Good time management

  • Adept critical thinking skills

  • Able to commit to a part-time commitment of no more than 29 hours per week.
