Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Welding DT Student Intern (LSE - Limited Service Employee) to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

Responsibilities

The Welding DT Student Intern will assist SRMC Welding Engineers in the Weld Test Shop with preparation of test coupons, assist in the administration of weld tests and other shop duties as required. The student will also have the opportunity to assist the Welding Engineers in the field.

Additional Information:

A regularly scheduled work week is set by the individual department not to exceed 40 hours a week. Interns will be paid a competitive hourly rate; no interns will be assigned to shift work; overtime is not available.

Assignments will be located in SRMC facilities on the 300sq mile D.O.E. site in Aiken, SC. Public transportation is not available, and interns will be required to arrange their own transportation. A valid Driver’s License, vehicle registration and proof of automobile insurance is required for driving on the Savannah River Site.

If you are selected to participate in the SRMC internship program, additional information will be requested such as: SRMC employment application, background check and official transcripts. You will be assigned to SRS General Employee Training and a Drug and Alcohol test before badging and commencement of assignment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited technical college, and currently working towards a Degree in Welding in their second year

OR

• An alumni of an accredited technical college with a degree in Welding

In addition:

• Must pass General Employment Training (GET)

• Must pass Drug and Alcohol Testing (DAT)

These two items will be scheduled before the intern starts work at Savannah River Site.
