FIRSTENERGY SERVICE COMPANY Real Estate Professional Co-Op/Intern in Akron, Ohio

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00] FirstEnergy's Real Estate Department is responsible for acquiring and maintaining Company property and property rights across our Service Territory spanning Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey. Day to day activities include administering lease, license and consent agreements with various parties including private land-owners, industrial customers, municipalities and government agencies. Our Team is also responsible for negotiating property rights in support of FirstEnergy's Energize 365 campaign, an ongoing program to improve electric service reliability through upgrade and expansion of our bulk transmission system. The Real Estate Intern will perform various duties in support of Department objectives. Working within the limitations of a hybrid home/office reporting model, the intern will receive broad exposure to all facets of the Real Estate team's functions while focusing on specific value-added tasks that provide a foundation for experiential learning. Responsibilities Include: Assist Real Estate team with its Filing for the Future initiatives by preparing documents for digitization; this includes pulling files, sorting, and scanning Annotate pertinent information on engineering drawings, easement exhibits, and maps in order to create a comprehensive digital packet for FirstEnergy transmission assets Geo-reference railroad crossing licenses and government easements and input coordinates and appropriate metadata into the Real Estate Information System (REIS) As circumstances allow, interns will rotate amongst the Real Estate Representatives to gain a rudimentary understanding right-of-way acquisition and real property management Participate in weekly staff meetings and update team members on progress, culminating with a final presentation at the end of the term Visit various company office and field locations as situation permits Perform other duties as assigned by Real Estate team Qualifications Include: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program at an accredited university / college with a major in Business Administration or related field. Must have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 Must be in Sophomore, Junior, or Senior with the ability to work two summers Must be eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship now, and at any time in the future. Ability to think outside the box Problem solving skills Organizational skills to prioritize and plan work, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Highly motivated to work independently and productively.
