Dream big, expect development and plug into our growing, global community where your diverse skills and talents will be deployed to make a difference in todays electrified world. nVent's Lab Internship will provide the opportunity to support R & D Lab technician team in the administration of product performance tests, agency approval tests, development tests, and assembly of prototype products while gaining exposure and valuable development experiences within a global manufacturing organization. This is a 10-week full-time internship during summer 2024. In this position, you will get to: Develop technical knowledge of nVent product construction and assembly Perform product performance testing Update standard work documentation as needed Develop an understanding of agency performance testing such as UL, CSA, NEMA and IEC Work with the internal partners to modify and expand test plans and procedures Generate written reports of test results in an accurate, concise manner, drawing sound conclusions and observations Set up and operate lab equipment Design and build equipment and fixtures to conduct testing Support and participate new product development Lean activities (i.e. DFMEA-Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Design Reviews, 3P Conceptual Design event) Assist engineers with design and development of test machinery and equipment as required Provide testing and engineering support for Engineered Solution and Value Engineering projects Internship Details: Interns are paid hourly for time worked Interns are responsible for transportation to and from work Interns who demonstrate outstanding performance may be offered a subsequent internship or full-time offer of employment with nVent The Lab Internship is based out of our facility in Anoka, MN. YOU HAVE: Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Math, or related field OR related Technical degree program. Knowledge of use of basic tools (tape measure, caliper, micrometer, drill, etc.) Ability analyze cause and effect with regard to product performance. Project management experience Organized and inquisitive. Able to work across multiple functional areas Ability to interpret and analyze Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Financial Analyses. Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships internally and externally (customers, suppliers, etc.).
