Kennedy Krieger Institute Data Analyst (International Center for Spinal Cord Injury) in Baltimore, Maryland

Overview

The Data Analyst independently performs data collection, analyzing, and preparation activities, with a specific focus on financial tasks in the areas of budgets and business operations.

The incumbent will additionally assist with preparation of grant applications and fee for service data to support the Director, Operations. Positive interaction and communication with the multidisciplinary team of clinicians/researchers is essential to the position.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate finance related tasks that support the daily operations of the department, such as coordination of financials and other operational metrics across multiple programs and coordination, facilitation, and reconciliation of all system entries (both internal with the Kennedy Krieger Institute Finance Department and external related sponsored systems).

  2. Prepare monthly analysis of budget to actual revenue and expense for the department. Meet with Directors and Managers monthly to review results and make recommendations.

  3. Participates in quarterly meetings with Director to review quarterly results. Develops multiple operational scenarios at the direction and request of the Director.

  4. Complete required financial aspects of grant application paperwork including sub-contract and consulting agreements when necessary. Set-up and maintain grant budgets for pending and awarded grants.

  5. Monitor grants to ensure all contractual requirements are met, invoices and reports are set, and all award statements and payments are received. Make recommendations for proper adjustments. Prepare journal entries to close grants and reconcile accounts.

  6. Assist Director with completing monthly reports required by accreditation agencies, including CARF and Joint Commission, including productivity, note deficiencies, demographics, etc. Make recommendations to the Director on how to optimize reporting systems, databases, and reports.

  7. Respond to report requests and liaise with Enterprise Intelligence, Information Technology, and EPIC teams to develop and optimize departmental reports.

  8. Process departmental invoices, purchase orders, and personal service agreements. Work with Accounts Payable to update vendors as needed.

  9. Manage monthly time-and-effort reports related to salary allocations. Facilitates system entries as necessary to reallocate effort at the direction of program leadership.

  10. Assist the Director with special projects as needed.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience required.

  • Experience managing grants and/or knowledge of contracting processes preferred.

  • Experience planning, implementing, and updating accounting systems preferred.

  • Experience using QuickBooks preferred.
