Expeditors Summer Intern - Global Environmental Sustainability in Bellevue, Washington

As sustainability continues to become an area of increasing focus for Expeditors customers, many of them are coming to us asking for help to calculate, report and reduce the carbon footprint of their logistics activity.
Utilizing more environmentally friendly road transportation options is one of the most immediate ways in which shippers can realize carbon footprint reductions in the short term. As a result, Expeditors is increasingly being asked by customers about the availability and cost of more environmentally friendly options around the world.
We want to define and implement a process that helps us capture and maintain this data on an ongoing basis. This is where you come in -as a summer intern on our team you will have the unique opportunity to propose and implement a solution, owning the process end to end. For the right individual, this is an excellent opportunity to get exposed to the intersection between logistics and sustainability, practice your project management skills and learn about technology implementation. Most importantly, you will get hands-on experience implementing a sustainability initiative at scale and on a global basis within a modern, highly matrixed corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with sustainability, product and service provider management team members to gather and document requirements.
Define scope of the solution to be implemented.
Select technology best suited to the nature of the dataset.
Propose and implement a distributed process to gather the data.
Develop training materials for rollout to Districts.
Launch initial data collection cycle.

Strong interest in logistics and sustainability.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Expeditors offers competitive compensation as described below.
Pay is $21.76 per hour.
