DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Forestry Intern, you will gain experience in professional forestry and forest technology work. You will assist district staff in preparing for silviculture treatments and work with district staff biologists in completing wildlife and fish habitat management projects.  In addition, you will also assist in the maintenance of state forest roads, buildings, trails and vehicles, as well as assist the service forester in providing landowners forestry assistance through the Bureau's programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time internship from 5/1/2024 through 8/30/2024. Work schedule is Alternate day Off (ADO) Schedule: Monday, ADO; Tues-Thurs, 7:00 AM-5:00 PM; Fri, 7:00 AM-4:30 PM; lunch 12:00 PM-12:30 PM. QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following acceptable majors: Forest Ecosystem Management Forest Technology Wildlife and Fisheries An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable. Freshman year completed. Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher). Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.

Additional Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
