About You and This Role

We are looking for you, an ambitious Bachelor's student, to support our Technical Expertise & Support (TES) department by undertaking an internship project at our location in Schkopau, Germany. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and enhancing our technical systems.

TES Software Subject Matter Experts (SME) typically work for Dow as members of the TES department. They collaborate with other TES personnel to uphold company operations by installing, repairing, and maintaining TES dedicated computer software or hardware for employees. Their job is to use their knowledge of these software to assist TES employees so they can complete their job duties effectively. A good TES Software SME has an investigative mindset that motivates them to identify problems with computer systems, perform tests, and find the cause of system errors. They value continued education and always look for opportunities to enhance their knowledge of computer hardware and software. They also have excellent verbal communication and active listening skills that allow them to engage with internal stakeholders and help them troubleshoot problems with hardware or software programs. Further, a good TES Software SME enjoys teamwork and works well with other colleagues to complete tasks productively.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret problems and determine the best way to resolve them, which requires critical thinking.

  • Troubleshoot recurring problems that require additional expertise with TES dedicated software.

  • Analyze current software challenges in the digital tools used by the team, identify possible improvements, and develop solutions and schedules for implementation.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining custom software solutions tailored to the specific needs of the chemical industry (recommended SQL Database knowledge and Visual Basic experience, desirable Python knowledge).

  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for the available software systems and processes.

  • Work closely with the local TES team. Patience will benefit in understanding the problem and working toward a solution.

Qualifications

  • Currently studying for a bachelor's degree or specific certification in the field of expertise.

  • Knowledge of IT best practices, good understanding of programming, computer science, and digital security.

  • A focus on computer information systems, information technology, or computer science should qualify the candidate.

  • Good communication skills, including writing, speaking, and active listening.

  • Great project management skills, including organization, planning, time management, and prioritization.

  • Ability to support us 10 to 20 hours per week, by arrangement, with flexible working hours.

  • Fluent in German and good in English.

Your Skills

  • Investigative mindset to identify and resolve system errors.

  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.

  • Teamwork and collaboration abilities.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of SQL Database, Visual Basic, and Python (desirable).

  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.

  • Patience and perseverance in troubleshooting and resolving issues.

Additional Notes

  • You can start between April and July 2025 for a period of 4 to 6 months (exact timing to be discussed).
