Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a talented construction management/engineering student for a summer internship in our Boise, Idaho office. Under the guidance of experienced staff, the successful candidate will learn to field transmission line corridors and access, facilitate constructability reviews, and estimate overhead transmission line project costs. Summer internships may include all expenses paid field trips to project sites to facilitate project work. At POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, you will have the opportunity to be part of important and innovative projects with diverse clientele.

In addition to working under the guidance of experienced team members, the selected intern will also participate in sessions designed to develop your skills and provide networking opportunities. Those sessions include:

  • Professional Development sessions focused on resume writing, interview tips, building a LinkedIn profile, and more.

  • Early Talent Speaker Series where leaders speak to interns about their role, vision for the company, and career path, offer career advice, and a Q&A session.

  • Fun Friday activities where interns company-wide join to network and have some fun while doing it.

Required Education/Experience

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering or construction management from an accredited university.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Candidate is interested in consulting in the electric utility industry.

  • Candidate is legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members.

  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Time management and organizational skills are essential.

  • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments as changes occur in project needs.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Preference given to applicants with a GPA above a 3.2.

  • Ideal coursework includes: scheduling, estimating, surveying, and project management.

  • Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for successful completion of tasks.

  • Prior internship and/or related construction experience is a plus.

  • Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam will be strongly considered for this position.

  • Familiarity with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, and the Microsoft suite.
