The Internship and Placement Coordinator will work at both Career Compass locations (Harlem and Brooklyn) to provide comprehensive business development that will generate internships, community service and alternative engagement opportunities for clients; conduct field work and outreach efforts to establish and formalize these partnerships; work closely with the Supervisor of External Partnerships as well as other program units to promote opportunities and generate client referrals to established partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and maintain monthly goals by referring clients to internship, community service and alternative engagement

  • Establish partnerships with local and community business through cold calling, field work, attending events to create opportunities for client internships, community service and alternative engagement

  • Formalize partnerships with a Memorandum of Understanding and ensure that all relevant documents are obtained for management and funder approval

  • Maintain up to date information/track partnership data regarding enrollment requirements, slot availability and partner liaison for each internship, community service and alternative engagement partner

  • Promote internship, community service and alternative engagement opportunities to clients during group workshop sessions and one-on-one screening meetings, collaborate with CSC’s to formalize referrals

  • Meet with clients to discuss internship and job opportunities, assist with enrollment processes and obtain post enrollment feedback from both partner organizations and clients.

  • Prepare and finalize internship, community service and alternative engagement candidates for enrollment and acceptance into appropriate assignments

  • Collaborate with computer lab instructor to assist with creating and updating resumes following client completion of internships, community service and alternative engagements

  • Provide job leads for clients who lost employment while enrolled in Career Compass including referrals to job fairs, hiring events, Business Link and Workforce 1 Centers

  • Update the client resource guide and bulletin boards at least once a month

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education requirement: Bachelor's degree

Experience required: 3 years of experience working in vocational rehabilitation, social work or social service-related field preferred. Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Working 5 days on site. This position will work at both offices in Harlem and Brooklyn.

Salary: $53,053/year
