DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Position Title: Fiber Engineer Intern

Role: The Fiber Engineering Intern groups are regional or district-based teams. Projects requiring Fiber Design include new customers' service orders and network enhancement or repairs. The Fiber Engineer Intern supports the fiber engineering department with certain aspects of fiber design to include splice/fiber allocation of Crown Castle fiber infrastructure. Projects requiring Fiber Design can either be customer funded based on service orders or company funded initiatives (ie: expansion, overbuild, municipal projects, etc.).

Responsibilities: * Complete the final Design Layout Record (DLR) and test documentation to Operations and Provisioning teams for project closeout. * Create splice design within new and existing infrastructure that facilitates customer delivery; collaborate with Network Construction Managers who execute the design. * Learn why and when we initiate work orders/overbuild/expansion projects and work with Planners. * Complete Cost Estimates from Sales to provide for all necessary design, procurement, and construction costs to include any risk and assumptions. * Analyze and understand processes and data to measure progress. * Analyze fiber test results, including but not limited to optical-time domain reflector (OTDR), chromatic dispersion/polarization mode dispersion (CD/PMD), and optical spectrum analyzer (OSA), to ensure adherence to all Crown Castle and/or manufacturer's specifications.

Education/Certifications: * Currently enrolled as a full-time student in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution with an expected graduation date between December 2024 and June 2026 * Preferred field(s) of study: Engineering or related field

Experience/Minimum Requirements *  Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) from June 3 to August 9, 2024 *  Authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time, regular basis without additional sponsorship

Reports to: District Manager

Work Plans: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office on Monday through Thursday.  On Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home.
