Ardmore Roderick Summer Illinois Tollway 2024 Internship in Chicago, Illinois

Ardmore Roderick has developed a formal Internship Program to provide real world education and experience to college students looking to enter the Civil Engineering Industry. We are looking for an eager intern to join our Illinois Tollway group. The formal program will run during the summer months and provide a variety of experiences for aspiring engineers and business professionals. The program will have an official start and end date, though some interns may work before or after the dates assigned. For the duration of the program interns will be exposed to a variety of tasks and educational events to build their knowledge and experience in their selected field.

 

Typical Functions:

 

· Primary Office – Lisle, IL

· Project – Illinois Tollway GEC

· Work under the Roadway Inspection Manager

· Assist with data collection related to inspections.

· Assist in various field inspections (Drainage, Environmental, ITS, and Tolling Systems)

· Assist in office inspections (Pavement, Safety Assets, and Right of Way).

· Collaborate with the team and other interns.

· Identify repair activities and update the asset management system.

· Experience all aspects of transportation within the project.

· Earn an OSHA 10 Certification.

· Paid internship

 

 

Required Qualifications

 

· Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program. 

· Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

· Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.

· Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

· Strong driving proficiency at posted speed limits on Illinois Tollways in both dry and wet conditions

· Strong driving proficiency and the capability to endure extended periods behind the wheel on the Illinois Tollway

· At ease with working outdoors on the Illinois Tollway's shoulder and within construction work zones.

· At ease in conducting walkdowns and inspections in various environmental conditions both dry and wet.

· Available for 40 hrs. a week between May 20th, 2024 through August 9th, 2024.

· Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

· Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

· Good problem-solving and analytical ability, and good organizational skills and attention to details. 

· Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.

· Local candidates preferred. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

 

 In addition to work assigned, Interns in the Internship Program will be expected to deliver a capstone presentation to their manager and the Executive team. The capstone presentation is an opportunity for an Intern to share their experience with the Executive Team and showcase what they have learned throughout the program.
