Intern, Application Engineering (Summer)

Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide. We are seeking an Intern, Application Engineering will work within the Application Engineering group, assisting with various projects and tasks to support the team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in the refractory industry, working directly with experienced engineers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in collecting and analyzing operational data to support the development of refractory solutions.

  • Support the design and implementation of small-scale refractory experiments and trials.

  • Help prepare technical reports and documentation based on experimental results.

  • Participate in the creation and review of case studies and technical literature.

  • Conduct basic refractory sample analysis and testing under supervision.

Specific Project Ideas:

  • Data Acquisition Capital Project: Support a data acquisition capital project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.

  • AI Application Development: Assist with data analysis and system development, testing potential AI application ideas.

  • Lab Analysis and Sample Preparation: Participate in lab analysis and sample preparation, organization, and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelors’ degree program majoring in chemical engineering, materials science or related discipline.

  • Must be at least Sophomore status.

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA (student will be required to provide a current transcript).

  • Must be available to work at least 40 hours per week for at least 12 weeks.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Strong interest in the metal melting or heat containment industries.

  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities desired.

  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Willingness to be hands-on and comfortable working in lab and factory environments for training and support purposes.
