GRAIL Facilities (Laboratory Operations) Summer Internship #3563 in Durham, North Carolina

The Facilities Intern will report to the Facility Manager as a Facilities & E&S team member. Intern will gain hands-on experience in the facility's Infrastructure and Maintenance systems and learn best practices in the facility's daily operations, including workflow management, Computerized Maintenance Monitoring System (CMMS), and Building Automation System (BAS/BMS) operations.

You will have the chance to be involved in the Facility Asset Management lifecycle, including a new system (EAM HxGen) induction in collaboration with GRAIL’s Engineering. This internship may require involvement in other projects, including Capital Expenditure (CAPEX), if business needs are required.

You will expected to be onsite in Durham NC with our team 5 days a week during your PAID internship. Pay is hourly at 40 hours a week, no overtime or weekend work is expected. Start date is June 3, end date is Aug 16. There is a one week unpaid summer break July 1-5th when GRAIL is closed.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and review technical documents, including procedures, preventative maintenance work plan templates, job aids, and specific lock out tag out (LOTO).

  • Create, label, and organize facility equipment files.

  • Operate the site's Computerized Maintenance Monitoring System (CMMS) And Building Automation System (BMS).

  • Observe and perform general, routine maintenance work related to assembling, installing, or repairing facility systems and equipment.

  • Learn and have fun!

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an Associates degree with a focus on Facilities Maintenance and/or Industrial Maintenance Technology.

  • Must be able to commit to a full-time internship for at least 10 weeks.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of safe and efficient use of tools and equipment.

  • Basic knowledge of safety hazards, rules, and regulations, and following safety programs and precautions.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Be proficient with Google Docs or similar (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Must have good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

  • Develop strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Apply academic knowledge to real-world projects.

The expected hourly pay for this intern role is $18-$25 an hour. Actual hourly base pay will consider skills, experience, and location.
