Major/Essential Functions:

• Provides Gastroenterology in-patient hospital care and in-patient consultation services

• Provides outpatient care in Faculty Clinic and/or supervision of Resident and Fellow clinics

• Supervises and teaches students, residents, and fellows in both in-patient and outpatient care

• Participates in academic activities in the areas of education, clinical care, and research

• Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship

• Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work

• Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission

• Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

• Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations

• Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with Paul L. Foster Schoof of Medicine Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish

• Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine

• Board certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine

• Board certification in Advanced Endoscopy by the American Board of Internal Medicine

• Regional or emerging national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

Required Qualifications:

• M.D. or D.O. degree

• Texas medical license, or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas

• Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in Internal Medicine

• Successful completion of ACGME-accredited fellowship training in gastroenterology

• Successful completion of ACGME-accredited fellowship training in advanced endoscopy
