Position Summary
Under the immediate direction of the 4-H Program Educator, the position assists with general 4-H programmatic and administrative support. This is an opportunity for a current high school senior or college student to learn the functionality of youth development programming. This is a paid 550-hour internship ($14.56/hr.) in Elkhorn, Wisconsin with a mutually agreed upon start in mid-May 2024 and an end date when the budget is exhausted or mid-August, whichever comes first. Note to applicants: This position will be onsite at our location. Work will be done during daytime office hours with the exception of some night/weekend events. Weekly hours may vary based on programmatic needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, promote, teach, and evaluate educational programs under the direction of 4-H Youth Development Staff.
Work cooperatively with youth, 4-H leaders, volunteers, and the general public through Extension programs.
Help promote 4-H through a variety of avenues - social media, print media, 4-H Blog, and in-person gatherings
Special projects as needed.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
High school Senior or current enrollment in post-secondary education. 3-6 months of work experience. Demonstrated interest in the field of Youth Development. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Have proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Have strong attention to detail as well as good communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, carry, push, pull, and reach out and overhead. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
