GE Aerospace Working Student/Intern - Compressor Aerodynamics (m/f/d) Garching, Germany

Job Description Summary

The Fan and Compressor Aerodynamics team at GE Aerospace in Garching is looking for a student with a background in Aerodynamics to support the analysis of test data from an ongoing centrifugal compressor test campaign as well as carrying out numerical analysis to assess new diffuser concepts for the centrifugal compressor stages of a turboprop engine. The student will work under close supervision of a mentor. The project is envisioned to have a duration of 8 months with the option of contract extension.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

The work involves test data analysis, geometry and mesh generation, pre- and postprocessing of an in-house CFD solver, and analysis and report out of results. This requires close coordination with the local team and other disciplines and active participation in technical reviews.

Required Qualifications and Characteristics

  • Master study during final semesters of Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with exposure to the field of turbomachinery aerodynamics.

  • Good understanding of the physics associated with turbomachinery aerodynamics.

  • Hands-on experience with numerical mesh generation, CFD simulation and data analysis.

  • Proven ability to deliver reliably and on complex tasks.

  • Self motivated and a quick learner.

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional global team in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Fluency in English.
