About the Role & Program
KABC-TV (ABC7) is an ABC owned television station (OTV), located in Glendale, Los Angeles County. The station is in the #2 ranked television market in the country. Weekly, our team at ABC7 produces over sixty-three hours of local news, public affairs, magazine programs and public service campaigns! The internship program is designed to provide you with an educational experience that complements your academic studies. You will have an opportunity to participate in developmental programming, contribute to daily operations of a major market television station, and learn about what we do.

From basketball to baseball, and hockey to golf, SoFi Stadium to the Rose Bowl, we cover the top stories in Los Angeles and beyond!
The approximate dates of this internship are February 2025 to early June 2025.
What You Will Do
Attend production meetings and be involved in the preparation of daily sports shows, segments and special programming like “Slam Dunk” and “Sunday Night Sports”
Interview coaches, players, transcribe the interviews, and log and observe sports telecasts
Research and contribute to sports news topics (including online/social media news research)
Observe how sports segments are written, edited, and delivered on-air
Observe production in the newsroom, in-studio, and in the field at locations like Dodger Stadium and the Crypto.com Arena
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience (academic, employment, or extracurricular) within sports and/or sports journalism or media
Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
Working toward a degree in broadcast journalism, communications, television production or related field
Previous coursework in producing, writing, or editing
Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writing
Education
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year or recently graduated within the past 6 months preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are February 2025 to early June 2025
Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in California is $17.28 per hour.
