FM Research Campus Engineering Instrumentation Internship Summer 2025 in Glocester, Rhode Island

FM’s 1,600-acre Research Campus located in West Glocester, RI is the premier center for property loss prevention scientific research and product testing.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Instrumentation Intern to join our team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of instrumentation and control systems. The candidate will follow the transformation of physical forces into engineering quantities and acquisition for analysis. The intern will work closely with our engineering team to support various projects and tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation equipment, gaining an understanding of the transformation of physical forces into engineering quantities.

  • Follow the data collection process through custom data acquisition software, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.

  • Analyze collected data to ensure data integrity and identify any discrepancies.

  • Help develop procedures to create a quality checklist that validates the integrity of acquired data.

  • Collaborate with engineers to design and test new instrumentation solutions.

  • Document procedures, findings, and recommendations related to instrumentation tasks.

  • Participate in safety and compliance audits to ensure adherence to industry standards.

  • Provide technical support to other team members as needed.

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Basic understanding of instrumentation and control systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
