Job Summary The Provider Relations Intern will learn the credentialing process for health care providers (Physicians, APPs, and midlevels) from initial hire to first day at orientation. The summer intern will see how internal and external departments work together to onboard a new health care provider and market them to the community. The Provider Relations summer intern will learn how to work with various internal departments, HSHS and Prevea leadership, and various outside agencies such as Federal Medicare; Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota Medicaid; multiple commercial insurance companies; Wisconsin Association of Medical Staff Services; Drug Enforcement Administration; Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services; and more. This position will also be involved in data clean-up projects to further enhance our system as the source of truth. What you will do Learn to navigate and help maintain ECHO Credentialing database. Verify provider data with contracted insurance companies. Obtain and certify primary source verifications for credentialing files. Aid with clinical and payor credentialing and credential maintenance. Load primary source verifications into provider database. Maintain expired or expiring credentials such as DEA certificates, state licenses, malpractice certificates, etc. Assist with second reviewing contract comparisons with commercial insurance. Education Qualifications Enrolled in an associate\'s or bachelor\'s degree program in a healthcare related or business field of study. Required 3.0 or higher GPA Required Skills and Abilities Communicate effectively with employees throughout the organization in a proactive and positive manner, as well as possess the ability to motivate in order to accomplish the goals of the department and the clinic. Positive attitude in dealing with people in adverse situations. Engages in active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate. Promotes teamwork and provides a supportive environment for staff in the assigned departments and throughout the organization.
