The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is currently seeking students who are interested in long-term care administration to complete their training hours with our organization. The DMVA has six long-term care campuses in the Commonwealth to include roughly 2,000 committed healthcare professionals working hard to honor our mission of providing quality service to the commonwealth's veterans and their families, and to oversee and support the members of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position provides the candidate an opportunity to complete the required 1,000 hours for Pennsylvania's Administrator-in-Training (AIT) under a licensed nursing home administrator while fulfilling their degree fieldwork. Duties of this position include shadowing and engaging with leadership, rotating through several facility departments to learn a variety of functions, and participating in and completing various projects as directed.

This internship will help you polish your academic skills for practical application with innovative ideas and expand your professional network within the system. As you work closely with administration, we will support you to develop your skills and advance your decision-making abilities. You will manage your projects during the internship to strengthen your leadership skills.

The ideal candidate is enrolled in their final year of a master's degree in nursing home administration, hospital administration, public health administration, or another area including social gerontology with an emphasis in related health facility administration.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time internship Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Current enrollment as a full-time undergraduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared bachelor's degree program and successful completion of at least sixty (60) college credits at the time of hire.
