Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Keystone Internship - State Museum of Pennsylvania (Fine Arts Collection and Exh in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Keystone Internship will be between 225-300 hours and last 10 weeks between May 13, 2024 and August 23, 2024 with the option to extend into September.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Keystone Intern for The State Museum (fine arts collection), you will gain an understanding of professional museum practices and procedures; participate in museum cataloging and records management; and help prepare for an upcoming exhibition of contemporary Pennsylvania artists.

This internship will provide invaluable behind-the-scenes experience with original works of art, a state-of-the-art digital collections management system, and the production of a contemporary art exhibition. You will develop proficiencies in curatorial tasks including object handling, condition reporting, documentary photography, managing digital and hard-copy information, installation, and cataloging.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Internship (temporary part-time) Work hours are flexible and will be finalized between selected interns and their supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: You must be currently enrolled, or will be enrolled in a college or university full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program by the start of the internship. You must be in good academic standing (2.5 GPA or higher). Additional Requirements: You must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire. You must currently be enrolled, or will be enrolled at a college or university undergraduate or graduate program for the Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 academic term by the start of the internship. You must be able to work in or commute to Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualification (not required): Possess work, academic, or volunteer experience. Legal Requirement: This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
