Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Roadway Design Intern (College) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4313060 THE POSITION The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Bureau of Design and Delivery is seeking student interns for employment during the summer months for the 2024 Summer Employment Program!

This internship opportunity will provide hands-on experience and exposure to various engineering projects and processes within our organization. As an Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and gain valuable skills that will kickstart your career in engineering!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in roadway design projects, working alongside some of the transportation industry's most experienced engineers.

This internship will allow you to develop your technical skills, apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, and work alongside engineering professionals who are passionate about innovation and excellence.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday with a 30-minute lunch. Some positions may require travel Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Compensation is credit based: Less than 90 credits - $20.35 Over 90 credits - $21.22 You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONSStudents who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements: Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester. Enrolled part-time or full-time for the next semester by the start of the internship in an applicable major In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher) Must be at least 18 years of age Special Requirement: Certain positions require a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License Additional Requirement: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Majors: Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
