As an Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) intern, you will work alongside engineers and scientists on hardware development, payload integration & operations, laboratory & test operations, modeling & simulation, space environments, scientific research and propulsion systems for programs like Human Landing Systems, Space Launch Systems and the International Space Station!

Job Description:

The successful candidate will help our ES62/ECLSS (Environmental Control and Life Support Systems) Team in supporting the various test operations we do every day.

  • Manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, samples, and supplies.

  • Work with P-Card holders to help organize the various boxes received from vendors to ensure they are received and delivered to the correct in-house customer.

  • Collaborates and communicates with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.

  • Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.

  • Sorts and stocks receivables into designated areas.

  • Maintains an accurate log sheet of daily moves, inventory, and counting accurately.

  • Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.

  • Provides additional support for shipping in the chemistry lab (water/ECLSS samples)

This position is intended to be for a work timeframe of 3 months.

Basic Qualifications

Typically, the educational requirement is High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • Inventory, organizing, manage incoming and outgoing stock.

  • Receiving, stocking, stacking, delivery to in-house customers.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Sense of time organization and urgency

  • Maintain all safety certifications pertinent to the ECLSS Development Branch.

  • Work as part of a team of engineers, technicians, biologist, and chemists to provide ECLSS

  • Development Branch test support for NASA while maintaining a strong consciousness about safety.

  • Knowledge of testing instrumentation and equipment is a plus, but not required.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is highly desired.

  • Teamwork and partnering skills are required.

The selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, automobile liability insurance and successfully complete a company defensive driving training class. Any logistics, retail, or customer service experience is a plus.

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

Intended workload:

80% moving, lifting, and organizing boxes, 10% computer work/training, 10% meetings/office work.

Office and laboratory environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel only onsite at MSFC (Marshall Space Flight Center).

Physical Requirements:

Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and other facilities (10%). Requires work in a test facility environment (10%). Physical labor, lifting boxes, parts, test components. Moving wooden pallets, parts, components (70%).

Equipment and Machines:

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).

Attendance:

Normal workday is from 7:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Regular on-site attendance is a necessity.

Other Essential Functions:

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
