Job Title: Cybersecurity Support Analyst - Intern

SCOPE OF POSITION:

This internship offers a hands-on experience in real-world cybersecurity practices, providing valuable support in critical cybersecurity functions. Over the ten weeks, the intern will contribute to projects focused on identifying and mitigating potential security risks within our on-premise web applications and systems. This role will enhance our security posture while allowing senior team members to focus on strategic initiatives. The intern will gain practical skills and a foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles, bridging their academic knowledge with real-world application.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform basic attack surface analysis of on-premise web applications to identify potential entry points and vulnerabilities.

• Conduct security audits of web applications, focusing on common web security issues.

• Review and analyze user access logs and permissions for critical systems, ensuring adherence to the principle of least privilege.

• Assist in documenting identified vulnerabilities and potential security risks.

• Contribute to the creation of basic security assessment reports.

• Participate in team meetings to discuss security findings and potential mitigation strategies.

• Assist in the maintenance of security documentation and logs.

• Learn and utilize basic security tools and techniques for vulnerability scanning and analysis.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION:

(Minimum Education and/or Experience required / Certification required)

• Rising junior or senior in an accredited degree program for Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology.

• Basic understanding of networking concepts and web application architecture.

• Familiarity with common web security vulnerabilities.

• Ability to analyze and interpret data from logs and security tools.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux).

• Interest in learning about security auditing and access controls.
