Logistics Intern - Warehouse Indianapolis (onsite - day shift)

Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Logistics Intern - Warehouse for its Summer 2025 Intern Program .

This Logistics Intern will report to, and take functional direction from, the Logistics Manager and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility Monday-Friday.

Summer Interns at Peerless Pump are given opportunities to participate in department projects with the goal to help expand their technical education and aid in completion of projects. At the end of the term, Interns will prepare a project status report to present to senior management within the company to explain impact of their project and receive direct feedback on performance.

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about?

The Logistics Intern will work with the Receiving/Stores/Shipping Team on key projects with exposure to multiple logistics functions.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Create structure for shopfloor picking in a defined area with focus on safety, efficiency, and 5S.

  • Analyze put-away and picking method for a specific part, with focus on safety, efficiency, and 5S.

  • Analyze inventory on a specific component, determining new process for receipt and put-away. This will entail calculating need for new equipment and cost of implementation.

Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations

This position will work closely, and collaborate with shop floor production personnel, Receiving and Stores department personnel.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Working towards a B.S. in Supply Chain, Logistics, Materials Management (or equivalent) from an accredited university *incoming 3rd or 4th year much preferred

  • Must be detailed oriented and possess excellent follow up skills

  • Person must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Competencies

  • Pay attention to details

  • Positive attitude, team working (offer help when low workload)

  • Sense of urgency

  • Customer centricity on every task

  • Escalate when needing help

  • Computer (MS Windows, Lab View, Excel)

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; Ability to bend, squat, sit, walk, and stand

  • Ability to structure workload and prioritize tasks

  • Identify the target and workload for the day and define a plan to get things done (accountability)

  • WM experience in SAP an advantage

  • Good at organizing and structuring (5S)

  • Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with company policy and established safety standard

  • Ability to learn and be certified on Powered Industrial Vehicles.

Work Conditions

Will work closely with shop floor personnel in a non-airconditioned manufacturing warehouse environment.
