We have up to ten Intern places available across our Finance teams with roles covering the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO); Business Process and Finance Transformation; Executive Reward; Finance Business Partnering; Procurement; Internal Audit; and Treasury. You’ll also have direct access to a senior member of the team, as you’ll be mentored to help you make the most of the 10-week program. During your internship, you will gain valuable hands-on experience to build your CV to stand out with future employers, such as Pearson. You may apply to one or more of these roles.

About the role

The Executive Reward team at Pearson is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the compensation and benefits packages for the company's top executives and senior leadership. This team collaborates closely with senior management, board committees, and external consultants to ensure that executive compensation aligns with the company's strategic objectives, performance goals, and industry standards. They conduct market analysis, evaluate performance metrics, and provide recommendations on salary, bonuses, equity awards, and other incentives to attract, retain, and motivate top talent while also ensuring alignment with shareholder interests and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the Executive Reward team plays a crucial role in communicating compensation policies transparently to stakeholders and addressing any concerns or inquiries related to executive pay.

Activities and responsibilities include:

  • Assist in conducting research and analysis on compensation trends, benchmarking data, and regulatory requirements.

  • Support the design and implementation of compensation programs, including base salary, short-term incentives, and long-term incentives.

  • Assist in preparing materials for executive compensation committee meetings, including analysis of compensation plans and proposals.

  • Participate in the development and communication of compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, finance, legal, and external consultants, on executive compensation matters.

  • Assist in preparing proxy disclosures and other regulatory filings related to compensation.

  • Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by the Reward leadership team.

Key requirements

  • Second or final year student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Prior coursework or experience in compensation, benefits, or corporate governance is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to executive compensation (e.g., SEC rules, proxy advisory guidelines) is a plus.

This is a 10-week internship programme, commencing Monday 16th June 2025 . You will be paid for the duration of your 10-week internship at a pro-rata annual salary of £27,007.50.
