Jacobs Field Geophysicist Intern -Summer 2025 Los Angeles, California

Based out of the Los Angeles area (preferred locations: San Louis Obispo or Los Angeles, CA), you’ll assist a team of project managers, scientists, and geophysicists in delivering advanced geophysical data collection services on time and within budget for world class projects. You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive group of professional staff as you plan and execute field activities as a field team leader; you’ll be trained in operations of an electromagnetic data collection technique as well as positional data collection using GPS and point cloud data. This internship will give you the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the best electromagnetic metal detectors on the market, and gain an understanding of the leading geophysical techniques in the munitions response industry.

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Environmental Science or closely related field  Must be at least a rising Junior

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

  • Willingness to perform field work

  • United States Citizenship

  • Valid Drivers License required

  • Ability to work at one of two project sites near San Louis Obispo or Fraizer Park, CA.

Ideally, you’ll also have: 

  • 3.0 GPA  

  • A previous internship related to your field of study 

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management within Jacobs  

  • Self-driven time management and organizational skills 

  • Ability to obtain 40-hour Hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER) training and current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher class, if needed for role
