Position Description:

The Texas Tech University Postgraduate Intercollegiate Athletics Intership is intended to provide on-the-job learning experiences for college graduates interested in pursuing a career in various areas of intercollegiate athletics. This program can last 12-36 months.

Future leaders will experience administration principles such as:

  • Applying a standard of ethics to policy and administrative context

  • Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of current operations within area of assignment

  • Communicating relevant information and ideas

  • Managing university resources to achieve organizational goals

Major/Essential Functions:

Under the direction of the Chief Analyst, the Post- Graduate Intern will:

  • Help manage monthly development officer reports (contact reports, PM003, date of last seen).

  • Help manage major gift portfolios, specifically assignment adjustments within portfolios, to best move donors and prospects through the development cycle.

  • Help with special list requests from the Advance database.

  • Track all Matador Club giving – Need data to show a donor’s full support to Athletics and for future database and donor recognition.

  • Track all Matador Club development officer activity.

  • Track all Gifts from Monthly MC financial reports.

  • Contact Reports

  • Enter Sr. Associate AD contact reports monthly.

  • Enter all event contact reports.

  • Enter all group meeting contact reports (as directed by Sr. Assoc. AD).

  • Enter follow-up plan in share point from small group meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

  • Previous internship or work experience in fundraising, development, marketing, or sales, preferably within a sports or non-profit environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and presentations.

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in managing donor information and preparing reports.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, sponsors, and other stakeholders.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with donor management software.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that could include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays to complete assigned tasks.
