Reference #: 4432291 THE POSITION The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking applicants for its 2024 Summer Internship Program located in Mechanicsburg, PA. This is a unique opportunity for college students interested in pursuing careers in corrections, criminal justice, government administration, and other related areas. The field of corrections is multidisciplinary and deploys the expertise and services of individuals from a wide range of professions.

The DOC Summer Internship provides an opportunity for students to develop their career interests and goals through meaningful, rewarding work in the public sector, as well as have the opportunity for professional growth, development, and networking opportunities. The department wants to help student interns make a difference in the lives of Pennsylvanians while developing their understanding of the correctional and criminal justice landscape in the Commonwealth.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Criminal Justice Intern for the DOC, you will work directly with department personnel and leadership across the corrections system to complete various projects and assignments. You will have access to confidential information and be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of that information. As such, you must maintain and demonstrate professionalism at all times. You will also have the opportunity to visit several state correctional institutions and community corrections facilities to gain knowledge about the daily operations inside a facility.

The DOC Summer Internship is a paid, full-time (37.5 hours per week) internship that will run for 12 weeks, from May 20, 2024, to August 9, 2024. You must also complete a short (paid) training curriculum during the first week of employment. If you are selected to participate in this program, you will receive an invaluable experience within a DOC office or bureau and will attend regular learning and networking opportunities to foster professional growth and development.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time, 12-week internship from May 20, 2024 through August 9, 2024 Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch, 37.5 hours per week. Be 18 years of age or older. Be working toward a degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Government Administration, or other related field. Additional Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
