Position Summary The Scientific Intern will work in the Product Development team. They will employ microbiology methodologies including aseptic technique, serial dilutions, enumeration of microbiological cultures, and preparation of supplies, media and reagents, The position will require accurately maintaining and recording test data. Must possess the ability to perform and accurately document tasks according to standardized test methods, established work instructions, and written protocols in a timely manner. Duties Perform a microbiological skills test that includes, serial dilution, streaking for isolation and aseptic technique, with passing results. Generate and maintain microbiological working cultures. Perform mathematical calculations to determine concentration and titer of samples. Prepare microbiological media, supplies and reagents. Perform testing, accurately record data and communicate results in a timely manner. Work under direct supervision with specific instructions. Carry out routine tasks independently. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment. Understand and comply with accepted regulatory, laboratory, and safety procedures required of working in BSL-1 and BSL-2 laboratories. Demonstrate working successfully in a team environment. Perform all work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner. Demonstrate basic technical writing skills. Required Experience Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology is preferred. Minimum Educational Requirement: Successful completion of Junior level coursework or above by May 2024.
