Job Title:  PRODUCT ENGINEER CO-OP / INTERN - EMISSION CONTROL (EC)

Value Stream/Unit:  Aftermarket Emission Control Engineering Shift:  1st SUMMARY: The Aftermarket Engineering intern will be responsible for helping the product engineering team with CalCat converter test programs and with the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. This includes collection and preparation of data to support engineering release, collection of part attribute data, OEM part number research, catalog application analysis, and vehicle prototype fit check and acoustic test support.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Aftermarket Engineer intern is responsible for the support of the DRiV organization. This work may include: Support individual new product development projects and coordinate activities with all functional areas to meet milestone dates. Utilize the engineering network, and PC software to support engineering product release. Support collection and development of appropriate design documentation including catalog application data and part attribute data. Support delivery of NPI designs to allow for business growth. Support CalCat converter test program(s) as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Currently pursuing degree or certification in engineering or technical discipline. Excellent PC skills capable to utilize spreadsheet, word processing and engineering database programs. Working knowledge of CAD design is a plus. Sound written and oral communication skills. Analytical abilities necessary to trouble shoot and problem solve, plan and prioritize own work, complete work on schedule, and maintain required records and logs. Interest in hands-on development work to help support NPI process. Ability to test drive vehicle(s) for acoustic and MIL testing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (The following statements describe the physical abilities required to perform the essential job functions, although exceptions may be made to these requirements based on the principle of reasonable accommodation.) Ability to clearly give and receive information through verbal (speaking & hearing) and written forms. Ability to participate in on-vehicle fit check and evaluations, handling potentially large, heavy EC products.
