Your New Role

This internship will be located in the NYC area. The selected intern will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule. CNN’s Domestic Booking department is CNN’s central booking unit! They are often one of the first teams on the ground, and they focus on getting enterprise interviews with people who are central to the story at hand. The team works with all shows across CNN’s broadcast and digital teams, so the team streamlines all big interviews for the network. The team also works to develop long standing relationships with those in leadership (Senators, Members of Congress, Governors, etc.) and also streamlines all interview requests on behalf of the network. Additionally, the Domestic Booking team works with all authors who are publishing new books in order to create a media rollout that includes several CNN shows. This team also works with the Special Events team on all debates and town halls.

Domestic Booking is incredibly unique as it is one of the only editorial teams that works across all CNN platforms, including CNN Digital, CNN International, and CNN Español.

For this internship role we are looking to find someone that is set to act as an additional team member. We are a very small team, so this role will be given a lot of responsibilities.

One of the many things that make me proud to be part of this department is our role in helping people tell their stories. We are the bridge between CNN and the people getting interviewed, and we walk them through the process of being in TV from start to finish. I’ve met so many wonderful people in the most incredible circumstances, and feel like I have truly been able to stand on the sidelines of history.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Research ongoing breaking news stories and create information packets to be shared with the entire team.

  • Search for stories to pitch that they believe should be covered on CNN.

  • Look for key players (eye witnesses, etc.) during breaking news stories that we can reach out to to have them them join us on air.

  • Read through upcoming book catalogs to make sure that all noteworthy books that are to be released are on the teams radar so that they can begin coordinating interviews with those authors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong written communication and o rganizational skills.

  • Nice to have a strong understanding of social media and how to operate and manage it.

  • Must be actively enrolled in a n accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required )

  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older)

  • Must be in academic good standing ( 3.0 or above cumulative GPA)

Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.
