The software development team is a group of application software, embedded software, dev ops, and test engineers, responsible for designing and developing Hologic’s best-in class mammography & skeletal products.
You will work with other software engineers from the team on a project to enhance developer workflow, improve service access & maintainability, support the manufacturing process, or otherwise help support software within our product design process.
Throughout the 10-12 weeks you'll have the opportunity to participate in the following:
Create a software design solution to solve a specific problem.
Write high quality code in adherence to industry best practices
Write and perform appropriate developer testing (unit, regression, & integration tests).
Work within Hologic’s version control & CICD pipeline.
Contribute to the development of requirements.
Consult with testing team about any verification testing needed.
Create or edit any and all appropriate documentation (code comments, requirements, design documentation, release notes, etc.)
Develop an understanding of how our products work and how they are used in clinical practice, in order to contribute to support of product design and maintenance.
Interface with Product Management and Subject Matter Experts.
We're looking for bright, inquisitive problem solvers who strive to make a difference. Key qualifications include the following:
Able to work full-time over the summer months (May/June – August/ Sept)
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and have at least one semester remaining to complete after the internship
Rising Junior or Rising Senior
Majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience or exposure to working with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Object Oriented coding skills in .NET/C#,C, C++, Java, or similar language.
Strong introductory understanding of software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
General computer science knowledge, and some knowledge in specialized areas like operating systems, databases, or networking.
Experience with Windows OS, Android, UNIX, and RTOS is a plus.
Experience with multithreading concepts is a plus.
Ability to work onsite at our Newark, DE campus. Intern housing, relocation, and housing stipends are not provided
The hourly pay range for this role is $22 - $28 per hour. Compensation is determined by class standing and operational function.
