Position Summary

The Nestlé System Technology Centre (NSTC) in Orbe is Nestlé’s leading R&D centre for the design, development and deployment of Nestlé delivery systems, offering expertise in machines, packaging and products for in-home and out-of-home.

As a Material Characterization intern , you will have the opportunity to work on a focused project related to Packaging Materials Performance for coffee capsules . You will engage in hands-on research and experimentation, contributing to the development and evaluation of packaging solutions. This internship will allow you to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting while gaining valuable experience in the field of packaging materials.

A Day in the Life of a Material Characterization intern

  • Assist in designing and preparing experiments focused on Packaging Materials Performance

  • Conduct research and literature reviews on packaging materials to support project development

  • Perform lab tests to assess material performance

  • Help define efficient testing methodologies to streamline processes

  • Contribute to ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with objectives and timelines

  • Collaborate on specifications for new packaging lines using IT tools for simulation

  • Collect and analyze experimental data, summarizing results for reporting

What will make you successful

  • Student or fresh graduate in a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering or a related field

  • Strong understanding of the correlation between material structures and their properties

  • Demonstrated interest in digital tools and technologies that enhance engineering practices

  • Familiarity with scientific environments, including hands-on experience with laboratory activities and data analysis a plus

  • Curious mindset with a strong ability to work collaboratively within a team setting

  • Excellent methodological and organizational abilities

  • Good command of Excel and PowerBi

  • Fluent in English, French is a plus
