Job Description Summary

The Judith and William Bollinger Lab at the Holman Biotech Commons seeks an energetic intern to participate as a full member of our lab team and launch a career as an information professional under the mentoring of our seasoned team of talented professionals.

The Holman Biotech Commons is an integral part of the Penn Libraries and provides cutting-edge research services, resources, and technology for the Perelman School of Medicine, including Biomedical Graduate Studies, the School of Nursing, the department of Biology, various master's programs, and Penn Medicine.

The Bollinger Digital Fabrication Lab offers a range of fabrication services to the University community. Poster Printing, 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, 3D Design consultations & 3D Scanning.

This is a great opportunity for exposure to the workings of an innovative operation within academic and specialized libraries.

Job Description

  • Provide Operations support for the Bollinger Lab, including but not limited to: workflow optimization, order processing, inventory management, facility coordination, customer outreach.

  • Assist in maintaining and improving lab's online presence.

  • Assist lab staff with projects related to the lab's services such as service assessment, customer acknowledgement tracking, and collaborations with other departments internal as well as external to the libraries.

  • Contribute to creating and improving lab workflow.

  • Provide back up to fabrication services staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • All applicants must be enrolled in a master’s degree program in library/information science.

  • A minimum level of familiarity with coding and additive manufacturing technologies.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Service orientation.

  • Tech-savvy.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Excited to learn!
