At CPCCo, located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. To achieve our mission, we need exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help us reduce risks on the Hanford Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. Internships are a great way to immerse yourself in CPCCo's culture to see if we're a good fit for you and your career goals. The work will be technical in nature and related to the degree the intern is pursuing. The intern should be able to walk away from the internship with valuable learning that applies to their chosen degree. This internship is in Richland, WA; the work site may be within the city limits or outside on the Hanford site. CPCCo's Regulatory Strategy & Integration team is seeking one dynamic Technical Writer/Editor who has a desire to work hard, learn new subjects, and be a contributing member of a great team. Our mission is progressing the Hanford Site environmental restoration program through gaining regulator concurrence on Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Atomic Energy Act (AEA) decision documents, evaluating soil and groundwater environmental cleanup, and discovering ways to optimize and improve the environmental restoration. Responsibilities during this internship include, but are not limited to, the following: * Updating the master references list (i.e., a comprehensive list of all references used in Hanford Site documents) to support all writing and editing tasks. * Updating the Record of Decision (ROD) table (i.e., a list of ROD references) to support all writing and editing tasks. * Updating the CPCCo Style Guide. * Editing and checking final documents. * Editing and formatting small documents. * Helping with a technical writing workbook. Basic Qualifications * At least 18 years of age. * An active full-time student during the two semesters/quarters immediately preceding the assignment. * Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment. * Able to work full-time (40 hours) during the internship experience. The internship typically provides up to 12-weeks of business experience during the summer break. * Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program. * Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Accounting, English, Technical Writing, Rhetoric and Professional Writing or similar discipline. Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate of $18.20 plus an additional $4.41 health & welfare adder in accordance with the Service Contract Act.
