Job Description
Student Exploration and Experience Development (SEED) is a 12-week internship opportunity at Veolia for students to gain hands-on experience in sustainability and ecological transformation. They will work on real-world projects, receive mentorship from industry professionals, and participate in workshops and networking events. The program aims to nurture talent, promote innovation, and foster meaningful connections between students and industry professionals. Overall, the SEED program provides students with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to make a positive impact in the industry.
Program Dates: June 2, 2025 to August 22, 2025.
POSITION PURPOSE: The ENGINEERING INTERN will perform projects from initiation to completion during the extent of their time with the team. The candidate will have visibility across many functional groups working with engineering, operations, maintenance. The Intern will follow safety, standard operating procedures, and assist with process improvement projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.
May assist in research or special projects in a variety of areas in order to fulfill business initiatives and meet business objectives.
May be asked to prepare and deliver insights and recommendations based on analyses.
Produces findings and draws conclusions from analyses. Makes oral and written recommendations to management.
Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with established policies, standards, and objectives; establish and/or update engineering standards and specifications as needed.
Work with senior engineers to ensure projects meet design specifications and are completed on time and within budget.
Perform other duties as required by management.
Comply with all Veolia Company and HSE procedures and policies.
Perform energy (steam, electricity, air, and chilled water) balance to help determine equipment efficiency. This will include analyzing equipment operational history and compiling the data to help identify areas of opportunities and areas of excellence.
Follow-up on previous Intern project work for the migration of Chill Water #1 to Rockwell. This includes the additional repairs of the machine working with site engineering and contractors.
Provide engineering assistance for maintenance in the upgrade/replacement of process field instrumentation, including pipe specifications, drawings, equipment specifications, etc.
Assist site engineer with current brine pipe replacement project during the construction phase. Internships are focused on learning and exposure to fundamental business processes and procedures. Candidates may support any of the Veolia North America business functions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environments vary by internship function from office to field to plant. Our aim is to provide tangible industry job experience to each intern. While we may extend offers to some interns, there is no guarantee of a job offer at the end of the internship.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
Working towards a four-year degree as a Junior or Senior in Mechanical Engineering program.
3.2 Cumulative G.P.A required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, presentation and facilitation skills / Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
Knowledgeable in AutoCAD, spreadsheets, and wording processing applications.
