Port of Seattle College Intern – Aviation Signage & Wayfinding Seattle, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
This is a full-time summer internship opportunity. The focus of this internship is to provide support to the signage and wayfinding department with a focus on project coordination, asset management, project documentation and graphics support for various terminal project. The specific role for this position will be dependent upon your background and area of emphasis within your studies. The candidate will actively engage with various disciplines in airport terminal design, architecture, electrical, communications, emergency response, customer service, external relations, art and more. Specific tasks may include:
Perform data collection using GIS software.
Assist in gathering and formatting as-built drawings to be used for the preparation of signage facility record drawings.
Review and update current signage standards and specifications at the direction of signage technical designers.
Assist with design development and coordination of small job projects.
Prepare communication plans for the program including internal and external communication.
Prepare design recommendations based on site observations.
Attend construction coordination meetings and assist with project phasing for temporary signage and wayfinding.
Who you are:
A Student – You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) of an undergrad degree program related to graphic design, architecture, communications, project management, construction management or other related field of study.
Knowledgeable – You have knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
Communicative – You have good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to communicate in writing and in-person with varying Port employees.
Desired – We hope you possess a desire to learn power system for building design and construction and have had exposure to design and or construction process.
What else you need to know:
Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
Work Environment – This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than five months.
Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you will/must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
