Port of Seattle College Intern – Digital Communications in Seattle, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
This is a full-time summer internship position. The BI Department is an enterprise support group, constantly challenged to work with a wide spectrum of complex data spanning the Port’s aviation, maritime and support service divisions. We want our data to tell a clear story, highlight insights we hadn't previously seen and do it all faster than we've been able to previously.
The Digital Communications Intern will develop content to promote BI services to internal audiences. The intern will work closely with BI staff help the highlight the value and power of data in advancing the Port’s mission. The intern will be responsible for creating marketing content, supporting a communication planning project, and reviewing and improving existing communications. Some of the things you'll be doing include:
Creating marketing content for internal audiences that highlight BI projects and events, success stories, and overall value for the Port and its customers. This may include written articles and event advertisements, presentations, and basic graphic design elements.
Support development of a communications plan that outlines how information will be shared with stakeholders to ensure clarity, consistency and engagement.
Reviewing and improving existing communications including the internal BI website, slide decks, director-level communications, reports, etc.
Who you are:
A student – You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree or certificate program, or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a degree program such as marketing, communications, or a related discipline.

Experience – You have experience creating written and visual marketing content.
Communication – You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. You are able to organize talking points or a presentation to tell a story, and can write persuasive and compelling copy for web, print and email with a strong attention to detail.
Proactive – You are a self-starter motivated to make meaningful contributions and can effectively work in a team environment.
Organized – You are able to work on assignments and manage time independently to complete tasks, and also have strong organizational skills.
Technical Skills – You have experience with Microsoft Office products.
What else you need to know:
Work Schedule – Normal work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Work Environment – This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than five months.
Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
