INTERN – IT SERVICES OPERATIONS

We are seeking a highly motivated Master of Health Administration (MHA) Student with an interest in Healthcare IT to join our team. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in healthcare technology, digital transformation, IT-enabled process improvements, and healthcare IT workforce development. The Intern will report to the Senior Director, ITS Operations, and will work alongside IT Services (ITS) leaders and staff to support initiatives that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, compliance, and workforce development and retention.

Work Location: HYBRID position, expected to be on site 1 day a week, mostly on Wednesdays at our Downtown Seattle office. There will be times when the number of days on site increases and/or the onsite location changes, depending on the task, assignment, or project.

Duration of Internship: June 16 – September 12

Typical Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Collaborate and assist cross-functional teams focusing on ITS People and Culture initiatives to enhance workforce development and retention.

  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings with ITS senior leaders, gaining insights into high-level decision-making in healthcare IT. May also be required to prepare slide decks and present information, depending on task, assignment, or project.

  • Assist in policy development and compliance, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.

  • Capture, improve, and document workflows, ensuring efficiency and regulatory compliance.

  • Support data analytics and reporting, leveraging IT systems to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics.

  • Assist with digital accessibility initiatives, ensuring regulatory standards.

  • Assist and collaborate with project management, tracking milestones, timelines, and deliverables for key organizational initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on telehealth, interoperability, and emerging healthcare technologies.

  • Participate in organizational change management efforts related to new IT systems, applications, processes, or updates.

  • Research and present best practices in healthcare IT, exploring innovative solutions to improve care delivery and efficiency. Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master of Health Administration (MHA) program at the University of Washington.

  • Interest in healthcare technology, digital health and accessibility, and IT strategy.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with EHR systems, SQL, or data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Benefits of the Internship:
