Job Summary

This is a developmental opportunity for active-duty military personnel who will be separating from the military in the next 3-6 months. The SkillBridge Internship Program is designed to provide on-the-job training and experience in the civilian sector to Skillbridge applicants. SkillBridge is a Department of Defense (DOD) program which matches civilian opportunities to a military member’s job training and work experience at the end of their military duty. Incumbents engage in various work assignments, projects and activities of varying complexity, structured so the participant has an opportunity to apply principles and theories, explore a career path and gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform at a professional level (as typically identified by an existing classification within Spokane County). Participants receive training, supervision and mentorship by a professional in their field. The participant may take part in professional development opportunities via conferences, seminars, online events, and other means.

Examples of Duties

  • Provides entry- to intermediate-level professional services, under supervision of professional staff and/or a supervisor, as appropriate to the day-to-day operating objectives of the unit.

  • Undertakes and/or participates in projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise appropriate to the needs of the organization.

  • Participates in the planning and implementation of unit projects and initiatives within area of expertise.

  • Interacts directly with colleagues, clientele, and/or other internal or external constituencies in the planning of assignments and the resolution of day-to-day operational problems.

  • Receives guidance, training, and mentoring from professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.

  • As appropriate to the position and as specified by unit management, conducts original research and prepares reports based on findings, to include recommendations or alternative proposals for action.

  • May undertake related studies or enrichment programs as appropriate to the specific objectives of the operating unit.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be eligible for DOD SkillBridge program as defined here: https://skillbridge.osd.mil/index.htm

  • No previous work experience is required.

  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
