Job Description:

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Co-op and Internship opportunities allow you to gain valuable work experience across a number of the businesses at TD. The Business Management & Governance (BMG) team supports Canadian Personal Banking (CPB) across departments by providing appropriate Business Governance & Control (1B) functions and aligning to the Enterprise Risk Framework (ERF) which employs a 'three lines of defense' model to risk management that emphasizes and balances strong independent oversight with clear ownership for risk across the Bank. The BMG team, as part of the 1B function, is responsible for enabling the Business to identify and understand the risks it faces and support the Business to manage its risks appropriately in alignment with the Bank's strategy and risk appetite.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce or related field

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term.

Business Description:

  • Foster a strong, robust, reliable, and sustainable Governance & Control environment for models and tools, while supporting and enabling business growth within TD's risk appetite and regulatory expectations.

  • Foster an effective and transparent culture of model and tools risk awareness as well as evaluate business strategy and activities against risk appetite.

  • Support the Business in the identification, assessment, mitigation and overall management of current and emerging model and tools risks in business processes, operations, and initiatives to comply with regulatory and policy requirements.

  • Collaborate with the Business to maintain processes to identify, track and resolve model and tools related issues expediently and effectively. Identify and report trends/areas of increasing model and tools risk and support decision-making/mitigation.

  • Support model and tools related exams, reviews, and findings with second and third lines of defense risk and control partners as well as external parties. Identify trends/areas of increasing model and tools risk and support decision-making/mitigation.

  • Establish and maintain Models & Tools Governance Framework and oversee lifecycle activities –conceptualization, development, validation, implementation, ongoing maintenance, and performance monitoring, retirement

  • Develop and maintain a complete and accurate Inventory Lists for CPB Models & Tools

  • Define and maintain appropriate guidelines to ensure that CPB is compliant with Enterprise policies and standards relating to models and tools

  • Provide models and tools governance subject matter expertise to business to support their risk

  • management practices

  • Streamline CPB models and tools processes, driving efficiency and consistency in processes/approaches and technology/tools, where possible. Be continuous improvement minded, seeking/pursuing new ways of working, where appropriate.

  • Provide trusted and reliable model and tool reporting to senior leadership and risk and control partners on the state of risks, controls and outcomes..

What are the Intern responsibilities?

The intern would work closely with the manager and Senior Manager, CPB Models & Tools Governance to support the following:

  • Execute activities required to ensure completeness of CPB Model and Tools Inventory

  • Review data populated in the Tools Inventory to ensure consistency across all Business

  • Develop templates required to maintain compliance to End User Computing (EUC) Standard and other enterprise standards and guidelines

  • Identify opportunities to create efficiency around the management of our Tools Inventory

  • Identify appropriate data points to support a complete and accurate inventory of models and tools

  • Identify and complete missing information relating to CPB Inventory of models and tools

  • Perform Data analysis to support reporting on models and tools

  • Execute any other activities that maybe assigned to support the overall function relating to Models and Tools governance

  • Review and understand the Enterprise governance policies, guidelines etc. that relate to Tools and provide input for opportunities to enhance CPB compliance to those policies, guidelines
