The Undergraduate Development Intern will support the Utility-Scale East Development Project Development function in various development aspects, including site assessments, permitting, environmental compliance, and financial modeling.
Role Responsibilities:
Project Lifecycle: Be involved in the various phases of project development, from concept to construction, and understand the importance of each stage
Understand the fundamentals of wind, solar, and energy storage technologies with a willingness to learn daily.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to identify prospective project locations and optimize project competitiveness
Work collaboratively with team members to gain practical experience, foster a high-performing culture, and contribute to the success of the Project Development team
Financial Analysis: Gain insights into the financial aspects of projects, understanding the key drivers for their attractiveness
Identify project drivers and constraints, including, but not limited to, schedules, budgets, permitting, equipment, energy markets, and project finance.
Gain exposure and understand essential aspects of project management, real estate, permitting, interconnection process, environmental studies, engineering, procurement, project finance, and construction.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and stakeholders to support ongoing projects, ensuring alignment across departments and contributing to impactful outcomes
Develop materials and presentations for senior leadership, synthesizing key findings and actionable recommendations to guide decision-making at the highest level
Assist with due diligence materials of M&A opportunities
Job Requirements and Experiences:
Currently enrolled in an accredited university program
Exposure to renewable energy and/or infrastructure development preferred
Ability to work within tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
This is a full-time 12-week summer internship starting the first week of June in our Austin, TX, Chicago, IL, or Valhalla, NY office.
Pay range: The base hourly range for this position in Illinois and New York for undergraduates is $25.00-$35.00 an hour, and for graduates is $30.00--$40.00. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
