Navy Federal Credit Union Intern - Year Round (Project Data Assistance) in Vienna, Virginia

Overview

The Engineering and Vendor Management team serves three functional areas for the Workplace, Infrastructure and Logistics Department: Project Management, Engineering Assessments, and Vendor Management. For Project Management, we are responsible for managing large capital projects, primarily at the Headquarters in Vienna, VA. Engineering Assessments involves the initiation, conduct, and review of engineering assessments, surveys, or other analytics of facility management data. Vendor Management is the management of the various vendors used by the Facility Management team.

To organize, facilitate, and coordinate project initiatives from inception through implementation, under the direction, guidance, and mentorship of Project/Program Manager or management. Provide life cycle, day-to-day support to multiple projects and programs of small to medium scope and impact. Demonstrate familiarity with the business unit's activities, processes, products or services. Monitor project/program to ensure adherence to respective methodology. Maintain effective relationships with internal business partners. Produce routine reports. Performs basic/routine tasks with limited latitude and moderate impact.

Responsibilities

• Serve on teams and task groups for projects/initiatives within the business unit &/or across the organization

• Determine project requirements

• Prepare project plans, proposals, schedules, budgets, communications and staffing requirements

• Assign responsibilities/tasks to project team members based on priority, staff availability, and resources

• Monitor and maintain project/program schedule, documentation, progress and change requests and provide weekly status updates

• Escalate project issues to Project Manager and/or management for resolution

• Identify and track cross project dependencies and impacts; communicate issues and provide solutions

• Organize and attend meetings and distribute minutes to project team members

• Collaborate with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks/assignments

• Identify and recommend process improvements to Project Manager, team, and/or management

• Develop, maintain, and manage reporting, dashboards, and BI solutions

• Accurately translate requirements into data solutions for reporting purposes

• Analyze data to identify known and unknown data relationships and patterns

• Assist in preparation of realistic project implementation plans which highlight major milestones and deliverables leveraging standard methods and work planning tools

• Assist in recognition of potential issues and risks during the analytics project implementation and suggest realistic mitigation strategies

• Assist in preparation of high quality project deliverables that are valued by the business and presents them in such a manner that they are easily understood by project stakeholders

• Support improvements to the way in which leaders visualize analytic service for the entire function

• Understand data gaps and ties data components together for visualization purposes

Qualifications

• Familiarity with project/program management processes and methodologies

• Exposure to working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Exposure to working with diverse internal and external contacts

• Ability to compile, organize and present information clearly and concisely

• Effective in the use of PCs and related software packages

• Basic research, analytical, and problem solving skills

• Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions

• Effective organizational, planning and time management skills

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Effective skill interpreting, applying and explaining written and oral regulations, instructions, products and procedures in English

• Demonstrates basic understanding behind the visualization of data components

• Has a basic knowledge of various data structures and formats and the ability to extract data from various data sources (such as Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.)

• Demonstrates basic knowledge of data visualization tools such as Microsoft PowerBI, Databricks SQL Analytics, Tableau, Cognos Analytics, Matplotlib, ggplot2

• Has basic knowledge of various data structures and the ability to manipulate data within visualization tools

• Ability to manipulate raw data into effective visualization dashboards

• Ability to communicate end to end data outcomes visually

• Exposure to developing analytic insights, charts, and tables using disparate data sources and transforming data into visual dashboards that are useful to the business and aids effective decision making

• Exposure to use of statistical practices to analyze current and historical data to make predictions, identify risks, and opportunities enabling better decisions on planned/future events

• Familiarity with performing statistical analysis such as measures of central tendency, normal distribution, variance, standard deviation, basic tests, correlation, and regression techniques

• Ability to view and understand other project or functional areas in order to consolidate analytical needs and processes

• Understanding of data integration, data cleaning, data pipelines and other analytical techniques for modeling

• Working knowledge of SQL and querying

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
