Quidel continues to supply doctors, clinicians, and healthcare professionals around the world with rapid test results for infectious disease, while developing our next generation of platforms and testing options for new areas of focus. Quidel is excited to be offering a paid internship within our Instrument Systems department at our San Diego facility in Mira Mesa. The focus of the internship will be Product Development Engineering. The planned start date for internship is on or around June 15th with an estimated end date of August 15th.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:

The Quidel Instrument Systems department has a Product Development Engineering internship opportunity for an undergraduate student (Junior or Senior year) enrolled in a Science, Mechanical/Biological Engineering, or similar curriculum. The intern can expect to perform 3D CAD, 3D printing, and prototyping for the Product Development team. Also, the intern can assume to setup/perform testing(s), take measurements, and write report analyses for the development of new assays, while helping with the processing of 12 Sofia assays currently in development. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and beginner level SolidWorks.

INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS:

Quidel has high expectations of our selected interns. The projects focused on are important to the continued success of our business. Interns should be prepared to fully commit to the start and end dates proposed and will need to travel between our Sorrento Valley and Mira Mesa locations. Any required alternation to timelines should be included in the application process. Interns are expected to maintain the same professionalism and confidentiality as our employees. As the internship program comes to an end interns will be expected to give a presentation on their process, findings, and results. Interns are expected to provide their own housing, travel, and any other requirements necessary for their participation in this program. Quidel will not pay for or reimburse for any travel, room, board, or other expense incurred.
